We spent this weekend in New Braunfels at a Coaches Outreach marriage conference. Coaches Outreach is a wonderful non-denominational organization based out of Dallas. They have several marriage conferences each summer in different locations, and they are supported largely by donors all over the United States who support the profession of coaching and the influence that coaches have on the lives of young people. These donors make it possible for coaches and their wives to enjoy a weekend away with all lodging and food included for a very minimal cost.
This was our third retreat to attend and we love it more each year.
The past 2 years we have gone to Lake Degray in Arkansas, but this year we decided to try TbarM in New Braunfels. We had 9 couples from our school attend this year which was incredible. It is truly a blessing each time we go. It really helps us refocus on our marriage and spend quality time together and with other couples from our school. Meeting other coaching couples from other places who view coaching as a ministry opportunity is always a great experience too. It is so easy to lose perspective of why Ryan coaches during the middle of season when we barely see each other and don't have much family time together. This weekend always helps us regain perspective, and we covet your prayers this year that we can keep that perspective.
Coaches Outreach also has a guy on staff full time who writes a Bible study specifically directed toward coaches, and they train a lay person from the community the lead the study. Each semester there is a new study to go through which has a major impact on coaching staffs all over.
During our free time this year we were able to float the Comel River which was so fun. I wish I could have taken pictures but i am afraid my camera would have been ruined!!
